Ava's first soccer game

This morning was Ava's first soccer game (and coincidentally, practice). She was excited to get her uniform shirt and to run and kick the ball before the game. That was pretty much where the smiles ended. If you would have told me that my child would have been the one running off the field crying because she wanted the ball and the other kids would not share, I never would have believed it. But there we were. My beautiful, pig tail wearing soccer star was in tears within minutes of her play time. And I mean the huge tears that just break your heart. She wanted to go home and she wanted a prize. Juice at half time helped and Cheetos for a snack at the end of the game were a welcome distraction, but Ava was still a sad girl. We need to work with her on sharing and taking her turn on the field (i.e. getting to the ball first and sneaking in a body check against her opponents). Toughen up baby girl- you don't want to wear your mommy's thin skin your entire life.....talk about tears.

Watch out fellow peewee soccer players..........we will be back. And next time, Ava won't be the one shedding tears. High-five!
